Conflicts around the world

Students are researching about different types of conflicts around the world ,which is also their first inquiry into.The learners are exploring in group-World war 1,world war 2 and Indo -Pak war.The researched information is being added in the chart and students are getting ready for their formative assessment.

To reflect their understanding, the students in groups performed skits on different types of conflicts and the other group identified  the type of conflict.The students enthusiastically discussed ,planned and performed the skit.

Sharing the planet-Tuning in

The students are now tuned in for the new theme-Sharing the planet,with the big idea-Peace and conflict.The students tuned in by doing an activity where they have to  write 2 situations when they were hurt by someone.
All the students wrote the situations and shared in the class.Further these situations were classified into five major categories-
Expulsion,Gossip,Physical abuse,Denial and Others.




Math cycle-constructing ,Transferring and Applying meaning

To understand the Math concept the students were involved in different activities to get an understanding of each stage.

The students drew illustration of various places where we use measurement in our daily life.Further the students worked with symbols and formulas to transfer their understanding.

Finally to apply the meaning in their real life the students were given tasks-

  • Measuring and converting the heights and weights of their parents.
  • Conversion of temperature from celsius to fahrenheit and vice versa  of their city.
Measuring capacity of milk at home.

SCAMPER is an acronym for a series of thinking process.It uses some key words as stimulators or for new ideas to help students to stretch their thinking.This activity was taken in the summative task and the students have to think at different work stations.This was an interesting form of assessment for the students.

Doughnut activity was conducted for the students to interact freely with their peers and shared ideas about the inquiries given to them  based on the unit-How the world works.The students excitedly participated in this learning engagement and brainstormed various ideas.
